Science Room - P.S.8

PS8's PTA initiated a successful fund-raising campaign in September 2005 to raise $50,000 to purchase and install air conditioners for every classroom in the school. In kicking off the campaign, Principal Seth Phillips noted, "Air conditioners might not seem like instructional tools. But cool classrooms will give us back three months of quality instructional time by allowing students to be comfortable during the hot months of September, May and June."

On Wednesday June 14, PS 8 students will ceremoniously flip the "on" switch of the Science Room's brand new air conditioner to mark the beginning of their new, cool, school.

Special guest of honor will be The Hudson Companies, developers of J Condominiums in DUMBO, whose generous contribution helped PS 8 become a cool school.
