The PS 8 Pre-K classes ventured to the bustling Borough Hall Farmer's Market October 30, where they saw the autumn flower and vegetable offerings and even purchased their own little pumpkins to take home.

The two classes, totaling 36 three- and four-year-olds, walked over from school with the help of their teachers and several parent volunteers on the brisk sunny morning. Before entering the market, the children were given a plastic bag in which to put their pumpkins.
They ogled a variety of colorful and oddly-shaped gourds before carefully choosing their own pumpkins. Each child was handed a dollar to pay for the pumpkin, a lesson in purchasing. The children, excited about being out and about together, spread enthusiasm and good cheer to farmers and patrons alike.
