Tickets are now on sale for PS 8's annual Spring Auction! The auction will be held at Plymouth Church's Hillis Hall on April 10th from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. Tickets are $50 in advance ($75 at the door) and can be purchased by clicking here.
We've got some great items up for auction this year and we'll be promoting them on the PS 8 website -- check back often as the list will continue to grow...

Here are just a few items that you will have the chance to bid on:
For the Kids: Summer Camps, baking lessons, music classes and Principal for the day
- A three week summer camp session (7/27-8/17) at Camp Echo in the Southern Catskills, just over an hour outside New York City. Camp Echo is a traditional co-ed sleep away camp that has become a home away from home for 350 children ages 6-16 each summer for over 80 years. This three week session would usually cost $4,300, but we'll start the bidding at $1,500. Check them out at www.campecho.com
- Three weeks not enough? Then how about free tuition for an entire summer sleep away camp for your child. Camp Chen-a-Wanda, located in Lenoxville, Pennsylvania, is offering this generous item. A full summer tuition usually costs $7,600. So what is a childfree summer worth to you? Check them out at www.campchen-a-wanda.com and see why your child will probably have more fun at camp than you will without them.
- A Baking Lesson at Almondine in DUMBO! Famed pastry chef Herve Poussot, formerly of Le Bernardin and Windows on the World, is offering a free baking class for up to six children, ages 5 and up. The lesson will include a tour of Almondine and each child will bring home what they bake. Value: $600.
- We've also got lessons for drumming and the violin and for those of you with younger children, one 10 week session of Music for Aardvarks with AudraRox. In addition, one lucky student will get to be principal for a day with Mr. Philips.
For Parents: Wining, dining, art or a weekend away
- We've also got some great items for parents. Brian Robinson, PS 8 parent and owner of a great wine store, Gnarly Vines, in Fort Greene, has offered a special wine tasting of 6 bottles, including one from his personal collection, and will talk you through the tasting in the comfort of your own home.
- We also have tickets to the ballet, several local sporting events and special passes to see the Frick Collection. Speaking of art, several of our own PS 8 parents are noted artists and have agreed to donate pieces of their work to the auction.
- Maybe you need to get away for the weekend? We have a number of weekend houses available. Take you pick of Block Island, Upstate New York or Fire Island.
All proceeds from the Auction go to pay for teaching assistants and to cover the costs of our enrichment program. PS 8's enrichment program isn't just an offering of elective classes, it is a crucial component of our children's education and an important part of how PS 8 has transformed itself from one of New York City's failing Public Schools just a few years ago into the highly regarded school that it is today. Please purchase your tickets to the Auction now so we can keep it that way.
